For Ms. Patel

Dear Ms. Patel,

Leo used to hide his reading log under his bed. Since he joined your class, he reads to his little sister every night before she falls asleep.

I don't know exactly what you said to him in September, but it worked. Thank you for seeing something in him and not letting go of it.

Maria, Leo's mom

An example. Yours is written from your own words.

You see what they do for your kid. Tell them.

You don't need the perfect words, or the school's address. Tell us one thing they did, and we'll help you say it and get it to them.

The day it arrives

A real envelope, with their name on the front.

  1. 01

    It shows up at school

A sealed envelope in their school mailbox, addressed to them by name. Not an email, not a gift card.

  2. 02

    Your words, on a card

Inside, the exact thing they did for your child, written the way you'd say it if you had five quiet minutes.

  3. 03

    Signed by you

From you and your child, with your return address on the envelope in case they want to write back.

People underestimate how much a thank-you means to the person who gets it.

In a University of Chicago study, people who wrote thank-you letters expected them to feel awkward to receive. The people who got them were more surprised and felt better than the writers predicted, and they cared about the warmth more than the wording.

How it works
  1. 01

    Tell us what they did

One question: what do you want to thank them for? A sentence about your kid is plenty.

  2. 02

    Read your letter

We write a real letter from your words. Read it free, change the tone, and send it only when it sounds like you.

  3. 03

We mail it to their school

Type the school's name and we fill in the address. Printed on a card, addressed to them by name, with your return address on the envelope.

Not a teacher? Same letter.

Anyone who shows up for your kid: the coach, the tutor, the school nurse, the bus driver. Or a teacher from your own school days.

Questions

Do I need an account?

No. Write it, read it, and pay with just your email. We email you a receipt with a link to follow your letter, no password to make.

Do I need the school's address?

No. Type the school's name and we fill in its address from the U.S. Department of Education's school directory. We address the envelope to the teacher by name. If you'd rather use another address, you can type it in.

When should I send it?

Any time it's true. Good moments: the end of a grading period, before the holidays, Teacher Appreciation Week in May, or the last weeks of school.

What does it cost?

Writing and reading your letter is free. Printing and mailing it is $6.99, charged only when it goes out. If it can't be mailed, you're refunded in full.

What should I write about?

One specific thing is enough: a change you've seen at home, a note they sent, how they handled a hard week. The letter only uses what you tell us. It never makes things up.

Will it look like it came from me?

Yes. It's written from your words and signed with your name. A small line at the bottom says it was printed and mailed by Dropfetti.

What has their teacher done this year?

It takes about two minutes, and you don't need an account. You see the letter before you pay anything.
